How the AI builds your volleyball team
In volleyball, the balance of a match comes down to rotation and complementary positions: a setter to build, an opposite to finish, middles at the block, outside hitters on the wings. Distributing all that by hand between two teams, factoring in levels, takes time you'd rather spend on the court.
Draftly relies on each player's position and level to generate balanced sixes. Gemini AI makes sure every team has a setter and a coherent split at reception and the block, then lets you regenerate the lineup in one click if the roster shifts before the first serve.
Tuesday, 12 players confirm for a 6v6: 2 setters, 2 opposites, 4 middles, 3 outside hitters and 1 libero. The AI assigns a setter per team, balances the block by spreading the middles and avoids stacking the offensive power on one side. Two even sixes, tight rallies set after set.
Every volleyball position accounted for
Each player sets their position. The AI guarantees every team a setter and a balanced split across attack, reception and block.
Setter
The conductor: sets every ball and paces the attack. One per team.
Opposite
Opposite the setter, the team's main finisher, attacks the tough balls.
Middle blocker
King of the block at the net, closes zones and attacks quick sets in the middle.
Outside hitter
On the wings, handles reception and attacks from the outside. The most complete role.
Libero
Defensive specialist in reception, recognized by the AI so it's not placed in an attacking rotation.

Frequently asked questions
Is the libero position handled separately?
Yes. You can set the libero as a specific position for each player. The AI accounts for it during lineup building so it isn't placed in a standard rotation.
Can it handle beach volley 2v2 or 4v4?
Draftly is currently optimized for 6-a-side. Beach volley format support is on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can use the AI lineup with a custom number of players.
How do I manage rotations across the season?
The attendance history lets you see who has played the most and balance playing time over the long run. The AI lineup can factor this in to vary the teams.
