General
What is Draftly?
Draftly is a web app for managing amateur sports teams. It centralizes attendance, training sessions and matches, and automatically generates balanced team lineups using artificial intelligence (Google Gemini 2.5). It serves basketball, football, rugby, volleyball and handball clubs.
Which sports are supported?
Draftly currently supports 5 sports: Basketball, Football, Rugby, Volleyball and Handball. Each sport has its own positions, skills and player types so the AI lineup is as relevant as possible.
Is Draftly available on mobile?
Draftly works from any mobile browser (iOS and Android) via draftly.team. A native mobile app (React Native) is in development and will be available soon.
Is Draftly available in English?
Yes, Draftly is available in French and English. The language is configurable in your profile and redirection is automatic when you log back in.
Account & Team
How do I create my club?
After signing up, create your club in a few clicks: choose a name, a sport and add a logo. You can then create one or more teams within that club (Rec, Competition, Youthβ¦).
How do I invite players?
From your team page, admins share an invite link or a 6-character code. Your players join the team in one click, with or without an existing account. Every invitation is verified server-side and codes are only visible to admins.
How many players can a team have?
The free plan supports up to 20 players per team. The Pro plan lifts this limit.
Can I manage several teams or several clubs?
With the free plan, you can manage 1 club and 1 team. The Pro plan lets you create as many teams as needed within your club.
What is the public team profile?
Each team has a public page accessible without an account. It shows the club info, the game formats played and upcoming sessions. You can choose to make your team discoverable in global search, or accessible only via a direct link.
What roles are available?
There are 3 roles: Club admin (full management), Team admin (managing the team and sessions) and Player (attendance, voting, lineup). Both club admins and team admins can change a player's role from the team page.
AI Lineup
How does the AI lineup work?
On session day, the admin launches the lineup. Draftly sends Google Gemini 2.5 Flash the list of present players with their profiles (player type, positions, level, skills, height, gender, age). The AI generates balanced teams in seconds, also factoring in the last 5 confirmed lineups to avoid repeating the same imbalances.
What criteria does the AI consider?
The AI balances teams on several criteria: player type (priority β e.g. a mandatory point guard in each basketball team), preferred positions, playing level, skills rated 1 to 5, gender, height, weight and age. The 2 youngest players of the same gender are never put on the same team.
Can I edit the lineup manually?
Yes. After generation, the admin can adjust the teams by drag & drop (desktop) or tap-to-move (mobile) before confirming the lineup.
Can players vote on the lineup?
Yes. Once the lineup is published, each member can vote π or π. After the match, a balance vote (βοΈ Balanced / βοΈ Slightly unbalanced / β οΈ Unbalanced) lets the AI learn and improve for future sessions.
Is the AI lineup available on the free plan?
No. The AI lineup is an exclusive Pro plan feature.
What is the Draft Challenge?
The Draft Challenge is a daily challenge available from the team page. Draftly generates a random 4v4 or 5v5 lineup among the roster members β independent of scheduled sessions. Members can vote on the balance and browse the history of the last 30 challenges. Available on the Pro plan.
Attendance & Scheduling
How do players confirm their attendance?
From the dashboard or the session page, each player replies in one tap: In / Out / Not sure. A toast confirms the response immediately. Only players marked "In" are included in the AI lineup.
How do I declare a long-term absence?
In your profile or from the team page, declare an unavailability with a start and end date (injury, holidaysβ¦). You're automatically marked absent for all sessions in the period. An "I'm back" button lets you end the absence before the end date.
Can I invite an external player for a session?
Yes. Admins can add a session guest (nickname, level, height, player type) to any session. The guest is automatically included as In in the AI lineup, then removed at the end of the session.
Can I limit the number of players at a training session?
Yes. Each recurring training slot can have a cap: a maximum number of players, set when creating the slot or at any time later. The session shows the spots taken (e.g. "12/16 spots") and switches to "Full" once it's full: nobody can answer "In" or add a guest anymore, admins included. Answering "Maybe" is still possible. Matches are not affected by the cap.
Can I cancel or edit a one-off session?
Yes. Admins can manage exceptions on each occurrence of a recurring session: cancellation, venue change, one-off time change. Members receive a push notification automatically.
Matches & History
How do I declare a match?
From the team page or the dashboard, declare a standalone match (opponent, venue, game format) or attach it to an existing session. You can also send a match proposal to another Draftly team, with internal voting and confirmation on both sides. From a team's public page, "Propose a match" opens the form with the opponent already filled in: just pick the team making the proposal.
How does the MVP vote work?
The admin activates the MVP vote on any past session. Members nominate up to 3 players (excluding themselves). The admin closes the vote whenever they like and results are shown with medals π₯π₯π₯.
Are there match statistics?
Yes. The history shows the W/D/L record, scores and attendance stats per player. In basketball, admins can import detailed statistics (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, foulsβ¦) from a scoretable app in JSON format. This feature is available on all plans.
How are seasons managed?
The Draftly season runs from August 1 to July 31. At each new season, the admin chooses which members to carry over. The history of previous seasons remains accessible.
Pickup games & Courts
Can we play outside club training?
Yes, in basketball. The "Around me" tab lets you create a game on an outdoor court: pick the court from the list or type it in, set a date, time, optional duration and a note for players. Invite teammates from all your teams, everyone answers in one click ("I'm in", "I'm out"β¦) and the organizer sees who's coming. They can invite more players, change the venue or time, or cancel the game.
Who can I invite to a game?
Only players from your own teams, with a name search for large rosters. Games open to players from nearby clubs are coming in a future version. The feature is basketball-only for now.
How do I find an outdoor court near me?
Search for a city, postcode or court name. Results show as a list and on a map. Each court page shows the IGN satellite view, a "Directions" link, number of courts, lighting, surface and wheelchair access, with a "Create a game here" button.
Where does the court data come from?
From the French Ministry of Sports public sports facilities database (Data ES, Licence Ouverte 2.0). Draftly only keeps free-access outdoor basketball courts, excluding schoolyards and facilities closed to the public. Coverage is rolling out region by region, and details (lighting, surface, access) may be incomplete or out of date.

What notifications does Draftly send?
Draftly sends push notifications for: new match declared, match or session cancelled, venue changed, day-before reminder at 5pm, a member's birthday at 9am, and for pickup games: invitation received, a player accepting, declining or dropping out, game changed or cancelled. Transactional emails cover: welcome, password reset, and notifying the opposing team when a match is proposed.
